Jill Dickin Schinas of Yacht Mollymawk has a number of great books out, Kids in the Cockpit, Family Outing in the Atlantic, and her latest, “How not to build a boat,” is a particularly impressive technical resource as well as an interesting, inspiring read. My favorite book for some time!! The Mollymawks are very clever and wonderful, and i love this book!!

Another great resource is “Metal Boat Maintenance -A Do it your self guide written by Captain Scott Fratcher or yachtwork.com. It is exactly what is says it is, written by somebody who’s lived on, worked on, Metal boats for years. It contains the real nitty gritty when it comes to repair, repainting, corrosion, less than ideal circumstances. Mostly geared towards steel boats, available for download(PDF) or hard copy.
