Eleanor Tarr is a Mason Intrepid constructed by Capt. George Smith of Prince Edward County Ontario.

Al Mason designed the Intrepid in 1946 publishing the plans in the magazine “The Rudder.” Plans were available for construction in Plywood, Aluminum and Steel. The original steel design called for a steel hull with a solid timber keel, lead bolted to the bottom, as well a plywood deck and transom hung rudder.

George modified the intrepid design and included features and alterations of the later design Mason 33 which included steel decks, steel box keel and an inboard version of the large rudder.

Eleanor Tarr has a a steel hull, with steel deck and an 1 1/2″ Honduran Mahogany cabin. The cabin roof is made of laminated marine plywood with oak beams beneath.

Launched in 1981 the vessel then known as “Intrepid Lady” Spent her first 26 years sailing fresh water between Bellville and Whitby on Lake Ontario.Intrepid Lines

    Hi
Lovely vessel beyond words. I looked at a boat like yours many moons ago (maybe 2001) in Toronto. Steel, white topsides, wooden mast, similar interior. Her keel full of oil I was told. Can’t recall her name. Pretty sure the broker said 1959 vintage.
